How to reach: By boat from the boat launch on Marina Road north of the town of Chalmette, proceed 1.8 km (1.1 mi) NNE to a more well defined canal, continue 2.4 km (1.5 mi) NE through the locks into the Mississippi River-Gulf Outlet canal (MRGO), turn right and proceed 9.5 km (5.9 mi) SE to the entrance to Lake Borgne, then turn left and proceed 0.6 km (0.4 mi) to the remains of Martello Castle in Lake Borgne. The tide house was located on a wooden platform on the east side of the castle remains. The bench marks are located on the castle remains, the marsh arm south of the castle, and on the hurricane protection levee on the SW bank of the MRGO.
