How to reach: To reach the tidal bench marks from the post office in Marathon, proceed SW on U.S. Highway 1 for 30.7 km (19.1 mi) to Big Pine Key, then turn right and proceed NW on State Highway 940 (Key Deer Boulevard) for 7.2 km (4.5 mi), then north onto a dim track road for 2.4 km (1.5 mi) to the north end of Big Pine Key. The bench marks are located in a clearing at the north tip of the Key. The tide gage and staff were located offshore, north of the north tip, SE of channel marker No. 26.
