How to reach:
To reach the tidal bench marks from the intersection of U.S. Highway 17 and State Highway 162, proceed south on State Highway 162 for 17.8 km (11.1 mi) to State Highway 164, then bear left onto State Highway 164 and travel 3.9 km (2.4 mi) to State Highway 174, then continue through the intersection and continue on State Highway 174 for 5.1 km (3.2 mi) to the end of the paved road, then continue on the dirt road for 1.6 km (1.0 mi) to State Road S-10-38, then bear left past the entrance to Hutton Plantation and travel for 0.5 km (0.3 mi) to the entrance to Willtown Bluff, then turn left and proceed 0.8 m (0.5 mi) to Willtown Bluff Boat Landing. By boat, continue 1.4 km (0.9 mi) north on Edisto River, then 1.0 km (0.6 mi) north on Hope Creek, the more easterly of two small creeks that enter Edisto River, 1.4 km (0.9 mi) north of the boat landing. The bench marks are located on an old rice dike. The tide gage and staff were on a platform 30 m (100 ft) offshore of the west bank of Hope Creek.
