Wind Forecast Guidance
This wind animation depicts forecasted hourly surface (33 ft [10m] above the water) winds for the
next 48 hours. The hourly wind fields were created by spatially and temporally interpolating wind forecasts
from the latest run of the National Weather Service's operational North American Mesoscale (NAM) weather
forecast model. The original spatial and temporal resolutions of the NAM wind forecast were 4 km and 3 hours,
respectively. These interpolated wind fields were used by SSCOFS to generate oceanographic forecast guidance.
