CO-OPS has created a collection of National Ocean Service resources to help users access available data, training courses and standards for water level observations. Below, explore this collection designed to provide guidance on water level data.
Description: This comprehensive collection of training resources is designed to equip learners of all levels with practical skills, advanced technical knowledge, and hands-on experience essential for establishing water level data. The trainings span from beginner to expert level information developed by the CO-OPS Technical Assistance Program, and also includes partner resources from the National Geodetic Survey (NGS), U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS), the Southeast Coastal Ocean Observing Regional Association (SECOORA), and the Office for Coastal Management (OCM).
Description: This document provides a quick snapshot of specifications for the installation, maintenance and removal of the water level stations in three sections. It begins with summary information regarding basic requirements for collecting water levels including data collection and field work; water level sensors; tide staff observations; and station installation, operations, maintenance and removal. This is followed by a section on benchmark and leveling requirements including bench mark network configuration; establishment of a primary benchmark; leveling standards and frequency; and sensor stability standards. The final section provides guidance for establishing geodetic connections with geodetic levels and GPS observations and requirements to submit data into NGS’ OPUS database. This document is a condensed, user-friendly version of the document "CO-OPS Specifications and Deliverables for Installation, Operation, and Removal of Water Level Stations," which can be found in the CO-OPS Field Library.

For this collection, it specifically offers water level data in various file formats, along with tools to create graphs and maps for visualization and analysis. This collection is designed to equip students, researchers and technicians with access to region-specific water level data.
