CO-OPS ODIN Station Map User's Guide

User's Guide

The CO-OPS Station Map has many new features designed to provide a quick and easy way to not only find a CO-OPS station, but also to view real-time observations as well as plot the last 48 hours of data. Below is a guide to some of the most commonly used features.

Highlighted Regions

To select a map region to zoom directly to, just click on the highlighted area on the map. Highlighted regions will automatically be replaced by stations once the map is zoomed in far enough. To see the regions again, either refresh the page, or zoom out.

Navigation Controls

You can start typing a station name directly into the search box, and the CO-OPS Station Map will automatically provide you with a list of valid suggestions. You can then click on any of these suggestions in order to zoom directly to that station. Please note that only stations with the current data type (set in the "Require type" control) will be shown. You can also zoom directly to a region or state by selecting an option from the "Zoom to region" control. To filter the stations shown by a certain data type, use the "Require type" control. This will only allow stations with the selected data type to show on the map and in the station list. You can enable or disable data plotting (see "Data Plotting") by checking or unchecking the box labelled "Plot Data". Cloud imagery can be enabled or disabled by checking or unchecking the box labelled "Cloud Cover". Cloud imagery is only available at lower zoom levels (zoomed out).

Data Plotting

The CO-OPS Station Map is now capable of plotting data for any currently active station. Click on a station marker in order to view plots. The tabs above the plot area are used to change the type of data being plotted. The current value is always shown in a dark grey block in the upper left-hand corner of the plot. Hovering the mouse cursor over the plot will show specific values. The two icons in the upper right corner of the plot can be used to print and export the plot.

Live Observations

The CO-OPS Station Map is capable of displaying real-time observations for water levels, air temperature, water temperature, barometric pressure, winds, and relative humidity. To display real-time observations on the map, use the pulldown at the top of the station list.

Mouse over a station for real-time observations

To see real-time observations for a water levels and meteorological data, mouse over a station and a popup will appear with the most recent observations.

Observations in Station List

The CO-OPS Station Map now shows real-time observations for certain products directly in the station listing. Observations are automatically updated every 2 minutes. Observations from left to right are water level (relative to MLLW), air temperature in fahrenheit, water temperature in fahrenheit, wind, and barometric pressure.

Collapsible Station List

Click the arrow next to the search box in order to hide the station list. The station list can be restored by clicking the same arrow in the upper right corner of the map.
