To reach the tidal bench marks from St. Georges, proceed SW on Ferry Road for
1.5 miles (2.4 km) to Bermuda Biological Station in St. Georges West. The bench
marks are on the Biological Station grounds and on the Esso Bermuda property to
the north. The tide gage and staff are located in the vicinity of the Scott
Laboratory building.

The bench mark is set in the top of a concrete boat landing in the vicinity of
the Scott Laboratory building, 28 feet (9 m) NW of the SW corner of the
building, 27 feet (8 m) WSW of the SW corner of the building, 25.5 feet (7.8 m)
SW of the NW corner of the building, and 4 feet (1 m) below the road bed.

The bench mark is set in the top of a concrete sea wall halfway down the boat
ramp on the west side of the boat ramp, 24.6 feet (7.5 m) north of the bulkhead,
7 feet (2 m) east of the SE corner of the Scott Laboratory building, 6 feet (2
m) west of the centerline of the boat ramp, and level with the ramp.

(0.3 m) south of the steps leading uphill to storage tanks, and 1.8 feet (0.5
m) above ground level.

of Biological Station Drive and Ferry Road, 22.0 feet (6.7 m) south of the
centerline of Ferry Road, 16 feet (5 m) east of the centerline of Biological
Station Drive, 1.4 feet (0.4 m) NW of a 1.7-foot (0.5 m) diameter cast iron pipe
set vertically in a concrete base, and about level with the ground.

Mean Sea Level (MSL) is a tidal datum determined over a 19-year National
Tidal Datum Epoch. It pertains to local mean sea level and should not be
confused with any other fixed island datum.
This tide station location has a local island datum. Island datums
are specific fixed geodetic datums whose elevation relationship to local MSL
and other tidal datums may not be consistent from one location to another.
The Vertical Mark Number (VM#) and PID# shown on the bench mark sheet are unique
identifiers for bench marks in the tidal and geodetic databases, respectively.
Each bench mark in either database has a single, unique VM# and/or PID# assigned.
Where both VM# and PID# are indicated, both tidal and geodetic elevations are
available for the bench mark listed.
