To reach the tidal bench marks, from the Kahului Airport proceed out the airport
exit, Keolani Place, 1.8 km (1.1 mi) until the intersection of Keolani Place,
Hana Highway (State Highway 36) and Kuihelani Avenue (Route 380) also known as
Dairy Road is reached. Turn SW onto Dairy Road and continue 1.6 km (1.0 mi) to
South Puunene Avenue (Route 350). Turn north onto South Puuene and proceed 1.6
km (1.0 mi) to Kaahumanu Avenue (State Highway 32). Turn east and proceed 0.2
km (0.1 mi) to North Wharf Street and turn north. Proceed 0.2 km (0.1 mi) to
the gate of Pier #2, enter the gate and proceed to the NW corner of Pier #2 in
the tide station. The tide gage and bench marks were in the vicinity.

The bench mark is a disk set near the NE corner of the new Japan Fisheries
Warehouse building, 7.92 m (26.0 ft) west of the most westerly yellow fence post
that leads to the Young Brother's Compound, 5.67 m (18.6 ft) SW of fire hydrant
#507, 2.90 m (9.5 ft) SE of the NE corner of the Japan Fisheries Warehouse, 1.07
m (3.5 ft) east of the warehouse wall, and 0.15 m (0.5 ft) east of an orange NOS
witness post. The bench mark is set 9 cm (0.3 ft) below ground, crimped to the
top of a 9/16-inch stainless steel rod driven to a depth of 14.6 m (48 ft), and
protected by a 4-inch PVC plastic pipe with cover which is encased in cement.

Federal Building, 1.74 m (5.7 ft) north of the north curb edge of Kaahumanu
Avenue, 1.43 m (4.7 ft) SW of a coconut tree, and 0.46 m (1.5 ft) south of
telephone pole #7. The bench mark is set 9 cm (0.3 ft) below ground, crimped to
the top of a 9/16-inch stainless steel rod driven to a depth of 15.8 m (52 ft),

Mean Sea Level (MSL) is a tidal datum determined over a 19-year National
Tidal Datum Epoch. It pertains to local mean sea level and should not be
confused with any other fixed island datum.
This tide station location has a local island datum. Island datums
are specific fixed geodetic datums whose elevation relationship to local MSL
and other tidal datums may not be consistent from one location to another.
The Vertical Mark Number (VM#) and PID# shown on the bench mark sheet are unique
identifiers for bench marks in the tidal and geodetic databases, respectively.
Each bench mark in either database has a single, unique VM# and/or PID# assigned.
Where both VM# and PID# are indicated, both tidal and geodetic elevations are
available for the bench mark listed.
