To reach the station from the US Post Office at 623 PR-102 in Cabo Rojo, proceed
west and then north 6.2 km (3.9 mi) on PR-102 to Joyuda. The bench marks are
located along 0.5 km (0.3 mi) of PR-102 between El Supermercado Selectos to the
south and the intersection with Calle Principal to the north. The tide gauge is
located on a pier near the restaurant La Fragata (El Bohio).

The primary bench mark is a flange-encased rod set in dirt along the eastern
side of PR-102, 44.54 m (146.1 ft) NE of the SE corner of a two story yellow
building on the western side of PR-102, 29.00 m (95.1 ft) ESE of the SW most
corner of Selectos supermarket and 27.52 m (90.3 ft) east of a total diesel sign
indicting the location of a diesel fuel pump. The datum point is set 3.2 cm (1
inch) below ground, being the top of a stainless steel rod driven 12.80 m (42.0
ft), in a sleeve extending to a depth of 1.00 m (3.3 ft) and encased in a
7.25-in NOS logo cap.

covered over water dining area behind the restaurant called El Bohio, 19.23 m
(63.1 ft) ENE of the westernmost piling of a 19.20 m (63.0 ft) long dock with
wooden deck and 2.11 m (6.9 ft) SW of the SW edge of a wooden fence surrounding
the outdoor dining area of La Fragata.

D E F I N I T I O N S
Mean Sea Level (MSL) is a tidal datum determined over a 19-year National
Tidal Datum Epoch. It pertains to local mean sea level and should not be
confused with any other fixed island datum.
This tide station location has a defined island datum (PRVD02). Island datums
are specific fixed geodetic datums whose elevation relationship to local MSL
and other tidal datums may not be consistent from one location to another.
The Vertical Mark Number (VM#) and PID# shown on the bench mark sheet are unique
identifiers for bench marks in the tidal and geodetic databases, respectively.
Each bench mark in either database has a single, unique VM# and/or PID# assigned.
Where both VM# and PID# are indicated, both tidal and geodetic elevations are
available for the bench mark listed. The NGS's Integrated Data Base (IDB PID)
provides geodetic datum based on traditionally leveled and bluebooked ties to
the National Spatial Reference System(NSRS) https://www.ngs.noaa.gov/datasheets/.
The NGS Online Positioning User Service (OPUS PID) provides geodetic datum based
on GPS position & tie it to the NSRS https://www.ngs.noaa.gov/OPUS/.
The PRVD02 elevation is shown on the Elevations of Tidal Datums Table Referred
to MLLW only when two or more of the bench marks listed have PRVD02 elevations.
The PRVD02 elevation relationship shown in the table is derived from an average
of several bench mark elevations relative to tide station datum. As a result of
this averaging, PRVD02 bench mark elevations computed indirectly from the tidal
datums elevation table may differ slightly from PRVD02 elevations listed for
each bench mark in the NGS database.
