From the west end of the Cape Coral bridge, proceed west 1.1 km (0.7 mi) on Cape
Coral Parkway to the intersection with Del Prado Boulevard.  Turn right and
proceed north 0.9 km (0.6 mi) to the intersection with SE 44th St. Turn right
and proceed east 0.25 km (0.16 mi) to the intersection with Orchid Blvd.  Turn
right and proceed south 0.25 km (0.16 mi) on Orchid Blvd to the intersection
with SE 45th St. Turn left and proceed east 0.6 km (0.4 mi) to the intersection
with SE 20th Ave.  Turn right and proceed SW 0.4 km (0.2 mi) to the sharp bend
to the left, follow the road 0.1 km (0.1 mi) to the left as it wraps around to
the NE.  Continue NE 0.05 km (0.03 mi) on SE 20th Place to the private residence
at 4633 SE 20th Place. The bench marks are located along Cape Coral Parkway west
of the bridge and at the private residence on the west side of the
Caloosahatchee River. The tide station is located on a private dock on the west
side of the Caloosahatchee River and north of the Cape Coral Parkway bridge.

The primary bench mark is a flange encased rod set the grass in Bernice Braden
Park, 70.56 m (231.5 ft) WNW of the westernmost flag pole of two that are in the
park, 22.86 m (75.0 ft) NNW of a metal post for a historical sign about Harney's
Point, 21.37 m (70.1 ft) NE of the NE corner of the Chamber of Commerce
building, 7.22 m (23.7 ft) SW of a palm tree located near a rock that sits in
the park along the water and 0.78 m (2.6 ft) east of a witness post screwed to a
6x6 wooden post.  The datum point is the top of a stainless steel rod at unknown
distance below the ground and driven 28.04 m (92.0 ft) and encased in a 7.25
inch NOS logo cap with concrete kick block.

north side of the western end of the Cape Coral Bridge, 30.00 m (98.4 ft) NNE of
of bench mark 876 5451 Tidal A, 16.70 m (54.8 ft) east of the northwestern end
of the concrete wall that is along the bridge, 11.7 m (38.4 ft) south of an
angle point in the seawall that runs east-west to NW-SE, 8.23 m (27.0 ft) NNE of
the northern side of the bridge and 0.92 m (3.0 ft) above the rocks in the
water.

The bench mark is a disk in the concrete base of an armed services memorial
tower in the median of Cape Coral Boulevard, 5.52m (18.1 ft) NNE of the northern
curb along the east bound lanes, 4.45m (14.6 ft) west of the NE leg of the
memorial tower, 3.90m (12.8 ft) ENE of the electrical utility box, 2.60m (8.5
ft) SSW of the southern curb along the westbound lanes and 0.25m (0.8 ft) NNE of
the NW concrete leg of the memorial tower.

for the eastbound lane of the Cape Coral Bridge, 13.05 m (42.8 ft) NE of the
southeastern corner of the seawall, 11.95 m (39.2 ft) SE of the western face of
the bridge abutment, 5.27 m (17.3 ft) SW of the face of the northern pillar,
1.96 m (6.4 ft) north of the face of the southern round support pillar under the
eastbound lane of the bridge, 0.84 m (2.8 ft) SE of the eastern face of a
concrete seawall and 1.01 m (3.3 ft) above the rocks in the water.

                             D E F I N I T I O N S


Mean Sea Level (MSL) is a tidal datum determined over a 19-year National Tidal
Datum Epoch.  It pertains to local mean sea level and should not be confused
with the fixed datums of North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88).

NAVD88 is a fixed datum derived from a simultaneous, least squares, minimum
constraint adjustment of Canadian/Mexican/United States leveling observations.
Local mean sea level observed at Father Point/Rimouski, Canada was held fixed as
the single initial constraint.  NAVD88 replaces NGVD29 as the national
standard geodetic reference for heights.  Bench mark elevations relative to
NAVD88 are available from NGS through the World Wide Web at 
National Geodetic Survey.

NGVD29 is a fixed datum adopted as a national standard geodetic reference for
heights but is now considered superseded.  NGVD29 is sometimes referred to as
Sea Level Datum of 1929 or as Mean Sea Level on some early issues of Geological
Survey Topographic Quads.  NGVD29 was originally derived from a general
adjustment of the first-order leveling networks of the U.S. and Canada after
holding mean sea level observed at 26 long term tide stations as fixed.
Numerous local and wide-spread adjustments have been made since establishment in
1929.  Bench mark elevations relative to NGVD29 are available from the National
Geodetic Survey (NGS) data base via the World Wide Web at 
National Geodetic Survey.

NAVD88 and NGVD29 are fixed geodetic datums whose elevation relationships to
local MSL and other tidal datums may not be consistent from one location to
another.

The Vertical Mark Number (VM#) and PID# shown on the bench mark sheet are unique
identifiers for bench marks in the tidal and geodetic databases, respectively.
Each bench mark in either database has a single, unique VM# and/or PID# assigned.
Where both VM# and PID# are indicated, both tidal and geodetic elevations are
available for the bench mark listed. The NGS's Integrated Data Base (IDB PID)
provides geodetic datum based on traditionally leveled and bluebooked ties to
the National Spatial Reference System(NSRS) https://www.ngs.noaa.gov/datasheets/.
The NGS Online Positioning User Service (OPUS PID) provides geodetic datum based
on GPS position & tie it to the NSRS https://www.ngs.noaa.gov/OPUS/.

The NAVD88 elevation is shown on the Elevations of Tidal Datums Table Referred
to MLLW only when two or more of the bench marks listed have NAVD88 elevations.
The NAVD88 elevation relationship shown in the table is derived from an average
of several bench mark elevations relative to tide station datum.  As a result of
this averaging, NAVD88 bench mark elevations computed indirectly from the tidal
datums elevation table may differ slightly from NAVD88 elevations listed for
each bench mark in the NGS database.
