To reach the tidal bench marks from the Chuuk airport terminal, proceed 1.8 km
(1.1 mi) south on the unnamed road in front of the airport leading to the harbor
area, then turn right into the blue public works warehouse yard across the road
from Chuuk Trade Center. The bench marks are along the road from airport
terminal. The tide gage was located in a white fiberglass house in the Dept. of
marine Resources fenced compound and nearly across the street from "Shigato's
Store".

warehouse (Building #2) which is the first of two quonset buildings east of the
Government pier and north of the easerly of two new additions to Building #2,
3.66 m (12.0 ft) east of the center of the doorway extended, 1.95 m (6.4 ft) NE
from the NW corner of easterly addition, 1.89 m (6.2 ft) NW of the NE corner of
addition, 0.58 m (1.9 ft) north of addition, and 0.24 m (0.8 ft) below ground
level.

ft) long section of a concrete bulkhead at the SE corner of inner harbor and
across the street from a Catholic church, 2.59 m (8.5 ft) from each end of the
bulkhead, 0.91 m (3.0 ft) east of the bulkhead face, 0.46 m (1.5 ft) east of an
8-inch hole in the concrete, and 0.3 m (1 ft) below road level.

D E F I N I T I O N S
Mean Sea Level (MSL) is a tidal datum determined over a 19-year National
Tidal Datum Epoch. It pertains to local mean sea level and should not be
confused with any other fixed island datum.
This tide station location has a local island datum. Island datums
are specific fixed geodetic datums whose elevation relationship to local MSL
and other tidal datums may not be consistent from one location to another.
The Vertical Mark Number (VM#) and PID# shown on the bench mark sheet are unique
identifiers for bench marks in the tidal and geodetic databases, respectively.
Each bench mark in either database has a single, unique VM# and/or PID# assigned.
Where both VM# and PID# are indicated, both tidal and geodetic elevations are
available for the bench mark listed. The NGS's Integrated Data Base (IDB PID)
provides geodetic datum based on traditionally leveled and bluebooked ties to
the National Spatial Reference System(NSRS) https://www.ngs.noaa.gov/datasheets/.
The NGS Online Positioning User Service (OPUS PID) provides geodetic datum based
