To reach the tidal bench marks from Honolulu, take H-1 West and take the first
exit after "Hickam AFB/Pearl Harbor," the "Arizona Memorial/Alcoha Stadium"
exit. Stay in the left lane, which becomes Kam Highway, and proceed past the
Makalapa and Haalawa Gates to Pearl Harbor, and turn left at the sign reading
"USS Arizona Next Left". The bench marks are in the vicinity of the
"COMTHIRDFLT Boat Dock." The tade station was located about 70 m (230 ft) west
of the Island Perry USN Security shack on the boat dock.

The primary bench mark is a disk set in the concrete foundation of the northern
of two hydraulic pistons which operate the ramp for the Ford Island Ferry, 6 m
(20 ft) east of the water's edge, 0.30 m (1 ft) south of the south edge of the
concrete wall surrounding the hydraulic piston, and 0.15 m (0.5 ft) east of the
west edge of the concrete foundation.

ft) concrete storm drain, 64 m (210 ft) NE of the ferry dock for the Ford Island
Ferry, 58 m (189 ft) east of the inshore end of the COMTHIRDFLT Boat Dock, 55 m
(180 ft) SE of the WII USS BOWFIN submarine moorage, 25 m (82 ft) NW of a
security shack at the entrance to the ferry dock, and 0.09 m (0.3 ft) south of a
cyclone fence.

D E F I N I T I O N S
Mean Sea Level (MSL) is a tidal datum determined over a 19-year National
Tidal Datum Epoch. It pertains to local mean sea level and should not be
confused with any other fixed island datum.
This tide station location has a local island datum. Island datums
are specific fixed geodetic datums whose elevation relationship to local MSL
and other tidal datums may not be consistent from one location to another.
The Vertical Mark Number (VM#) and PID# shown on the bench mark sheet are unique
identifiers for bench marks in the tidal and geodetic databases, respectively.
Each bench mark in either database has a single, unique VM# and/or PID# assigned.
Where both VM# and PID# are indicated, both tidal and geodetic elevations are
available for the bench mark listed. The NGS's Integrated Data Base (IDB PID)
provides geodetic datum based on traditionally leveled and bluebooked ties to
the National Spatial Reference System(NSRS) https://www.ngs.noaa.gov/datasheets/.
