How to reach:
To reach the bench marks on Mona Island. You first have to precure a way to get 40 miles (34.8 nautical miles) offshore of the island of Puerto Rico to the smaller island of Mona, either by boat or U.S. Coast Guard helicpoter or with the Dept. of Natural Resources plane. This is best done by contacting the Coast Guard or DNRA directly. The boat used for the installation was chartered out of Boqueron, PR. and is owned by Joe Swider. The name of his boat is Matihilda and the number is 787-462-8086. (See station report for more detail). The bench marks are on the DNRAs pier and the road leading to the pier. DNRA is located on the southwest side of Mona Island and is the only facility on the island. The station is located on the pier and is attached to an abandoned building on the pier. Good luck!
