To reach the bench marks from the intersection of Route 17 North (George Washington Memorial Highway) and Cook Road, proceed north for 6.5 km (2.5 mi) to the intersection of Cook Road and Route 238, turn right and continue east on Route 238 for 3.2 km (1.2 mi) to the gate at the US Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown. The tide gage is located at berth 5 on the north end of the Coast Guard pier. The bench marks are located on the Coast Guard property in the vicinity of the pier.
