Location:
To reach the bench marks from I495 north in Long Island, take exit 33 - Great Neck, proceed to the second traffic signal at Lakeville Road, then turn right onto Lakeville Road and proceed 7.9 km (4.9 mi) to Steamboat Road, then turn left onto Steamboat Road and continue 2.1 km (1.3 mi) to the entrance to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Proceed past the guard shack and follow the entrance road to its end, then turn left onto the academy grounds and continue on the road to the sailing center. The bench marks are on Academy property along the water and the tide station is located on the sailing center dock.
