Location:

To reach the tidal bench marks from the junction of U.S. Highway 1 and State Route 191 in East Machias, proceed east on State Route 191 to the main gate of Cutler Naval Communications Center. Obtain permission and a pass to visit the tide station from the guard at the gate. Continue east on State Route 191 for approximately 4.8 km (3 mi) to the bay, follow the road to the right through a gate to the fuel pier. The bench marks are located within a 1.6 km (1 mi) radius of the station. The tide house is located on the northern end of the pier.
