No further QuickLooks will be posted for this storm unless oceanographic conditions warrant and/or the National Hurricane Center (NHC) issues a new tropical storm or hurricane warning for the U.S. or its territories.

As of 09/05/2013 12:00 AST, water levels across Puerto Rico and the U.S Virgin Islands are slightly elevated and range between 0.2 to 0.5 ft above predicted tide levels. Winds are abating along the southern coast of Puerto Rico and are measuring between 5 and 10 knots with slightly higher gusts.  Elsewhere along the Puerto Rican coast, winds remain light.

Water Level and Meteorological plots available below are updated automatically.  A line denoting Mean Higher High Water (MHHW) is displayed to provide an approximate indication of when flooding inundation may occur.  Water level predictions relative to Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) are:

GABRIELLE WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 17.5 NORTH...LONGITUDE 68.1
WEST. THE DEPRESSION IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHWEST NEAR 9 MPH...
15 KM/H...AND THIS MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT 24
HOUR OR SO.
 
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE DECREASED TO NEAR 35 MPH...55 KM/H...
WITH HIGHER GUSTS.  GABRIELLE HAS BECOME VERY POORLY ORGANIZED...AND
IT IS EXPECTED TO DEGENERATE TO A REMNANT LOW PRESSURE AREA TONIGHT
OR FRIDAY AS THE CENTER MOVES OVER THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC.

BASED ON A COMBINATION OF AIR FORCE RESERVE HURRICANE HUNTER

OF 2 TO 4 INCHES OVER PUERTO RICO AND THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS...WITH
ISOLATED MAXIMUM AMOUNTS OF UP TO 8 INCHES POSSIBLE IN AREAS OF
MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN. THESE RAINS COULD CAUSE DANGEROUS FLASH FLOODS
AND MUD SLIDES OVER MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN.
