Surface Wind Forecast Guidance
This wind animation depicts forecasted hourly surface (33 ft [10m] above the water) winds for the next 48 hours. The hourly wind fields were created by spatially and temporally interpolating wind forecast from the latest run of the National Weather Service's nested high-resolution (4km) North American Mesoscale (NAM4) weather forecast model. The parent NAM wind forecast (7.5 miles [12 km] and 3 hours) is used as backup. These interpolated wind fields were used by NGOFS to generate oceanographic forecast guidance for the NGOFS model domain.
