Surface Wind Forecast Guidance
This wind animation depicts forecasted hourly surface (10m above the water) winds for the next 30 hours. The hourly wind fields were created by spatially and temporally interpolating wind forecast guidance from the National Weather Service's operational NAM atmospheric forecast model, or gridded forecasts from NWS field offices. These hourly wind fields were used by LMOFS' hydrodynamic model to generate oceanographic forecast guidance for the Lake Michigan out to 30 hours.
