Surface Winds for Nowcast Cycle
The surface wind animation presented here is based on NOAA/National Weather Service (NWS) operational products, including the Real-Time Mesoscale Analysis (RTMA) or forecast guidance from North American Mesoscale (NAM) Model, if RTMA analyses are not available. The hourly wind fields are created by spatially and temporally interpolating onto the CBOFS model grid. These interpolated wind fields are used by CBOFS's nowcast cycle to generate oceanographic nowcasts of the bay. The original wind products can be seen at the NWS/National Centers for Environmental Prediction web page.
